Hello and welcome to my website. I don’t have much here at the moment, but if you’re interested in my music, it is available below.

I’m a composer based in the UK, making fairly relaxing ambient music and charting my journey as I learn music theory and composition practices.

For a while I’ve wanted to do remixes of some of my older tracks to bring them more in line with what I feel they should sound like now. I picked some of my favourites from the first three albums and added lo-fi style drums, changed a few instruments around here and there, and adjusted a few timings and, I think, improved on them a lot. I like how this album turned out a lot more than I was expecting to.

  16. Hope, Above All (Grand Alternative)

This album was a set of experimental tracks written inspired by characters that my friends described to me. I worked with the people involved to personalise the tracks and give them something that they felt captured what their character represented.

The general procedure was similar to below, written in Guitar Pro collaboratively, and then fed into a DAW and edited, mixed and adjusted until it was… approaching correct.

The Bear’s Journey North

  1. The Waltz (Day)

  2. Another Melancholy Meeting

  3. Marchin Through the Marches

  8. The Burning Town

  9. The Slow Dance Towards Death

  10. They’re Gonna Steal Your Goods

  11. Violent Dancing

  12. The Waltz (Night)

Inspired by the world of the Witcher, this was an attempt to create tracks that might fit somewhere within that setting. A lot of these were written in the context of a Tabletop Roleplaying Game set in the world, and it’s nice to me to have this as a memory from then.

These tracks were mostly written using Guitar Pro, and then fed into Pro Tools for some final editing, though I didn’t spend as long as I should’ve on mixing them (Still something of a dark art to me, admittedly). A lot of credit for the instrument tone goes to places like EastWest and Spitfire Audio, honestly.

Ivan Versus the Moon

  1. Ivan Awakens

  2. Precursor to the Event

  3. Polite Goodbye

  4. Skyburst

  5. Drifting

  6. The Endless Expanse

  7. La Lune, The Moon

  8. Craters, Etc.

  9. Protons

  10. Strife (Moon Fight)

  11. Lost and Found

  12. Further Echoes

This title emerged from a conversation during another Tabletop gaming session, where one of my friends mentioned that my character, “Ivan”, might one day fight everything, including the moon. From the title, we devised a sort of concept album framed around this event.

At the end, a track (Lost and Found) from earlier albums that didn’t quite make the cut made it on, because I liked them too much to pass up, and a redone version of Echoes from the first album

Alien Symmetry

  1. The Door Opens

  2. Starfield

  3. Alien Shores

  4. Mist

  5. Arcane Forests

  6. Strange Fauna

  7. The Gallows

  8. Twilight Snowfall

  9. Alien Skies

  10. Spheres

This album was an attempt to make something that felt like exploring an unknown area, some kind of distant world or strange place. Inspired (perhaps, shamelessly) by games like Mass Effect, as well as a need to have some kind of ambient, quiet soundscapes to imagine things to.

The first three albums were all composed entirely on iPad, using Garageband, and this one was the first chance I had to experiment with the Alchemy synth suite, which, in all honesty, is a pretty great tool for learning to compose music.

Virtues

  1. Twine

  2. Grim Waters

  3. Not (One) to Judge

  4. Requ has a lot to say, Fin

  5. Chattel

  6. Stellar Oceans? Not Quite.

  7. Horizons

  8. Castles of Dust and Dreams

  9. Echoes (Of A Falling Star)

  10. A Good Man

  11. Entwine

The first album I released, this one is a mess of early synth projects and attempts to create atmospheric music for Eclipse Phase. Some of it turned out pretty well and ended up inspiring me to keep going with Alien Symmetry, while other tracks didn’t get far or didn’t end up doing what I’d wanted.

It’s important to keep hold of these early projects we work on, in my opinion. It helps to ground ourselves and see where we started, how far we’ve come, and so on. Sometimes, lightning strikes early and you do happen across a clever idea or two, too.

Not… so much here.
